Has the relevance of social media gone up or down?

There was a time when Facebook was the place to be if you wanted to boost your business and interact with customers and get to know them for real.

At first, it was difficult to convince people to pitch their ideas and join social media and make their presence known and felt online. A few years ahead and businesses and small scale industries joined the gang and waited for business to boom.

Facebook made money; real money through ads clicks and so on.

The Internet is both a boon and a curse.

Information was sold and the people became aware of it slowly. People started leaving facebook and hardly bother to log in and keep it only because some sites have FB login enabled.

Those who remain faithful to FB are the ones who post selfies, are insecure about their relationships and post photographs ( Titanic style) and look forward to the likes they get all in return for the kick they get in knowing that people admire them. That’s fake too, most of the time.

Facebook is still being used by anti-social elements to spread slander about celebrities.

Facebook is being used by groups of people who spread religious hatred and enmity.

Facebook is being used by political activists for their activities.

Facebook is boycotted by people who care for their privacy and do not like being dragged into the controversy.

As for me, all I see on opening the page is what I do not want to see. The cruelty photos and the dollar for a like thing and snooping relatives.
